July 4th: Fireworks About Town
From the Queen Mary to the Hollywood Bowl, Los Angeles has a variety of fireworks venues for you to choose from this Independence Day:
- Americafest at the Rose Bowl:
1001 Rose Bowl Drive
The party starts at 2pm with a family fun festival outside the stadium, followed by evening entertainment at 7pm and “the biggest fireworks show in Southern California” at 9:05pm.
- July 4th Fireworks Spectacular at the Hollywood Bowl:
2301 North Highland Avenue
You have three chances this weekend to rock out to Daryl Hall & John Oates with the Hollywood Bowl orchestra and enjoy the accompanying fireworks: Saturday, Sunday and Monday, starting at 7:30pm each evening.
- Studio City 4th of July Fireworks Festival:
CBS Studio Center, 4024 Radford Ave., Studio City
Enjoy music, model airplane and car shows and a local business expo capped off by a fireworkss display at CBS. The event runs from 5pm to 9:30pm, and there are various VIP options such as rooftop fireworks viewing and tequila, sake, scotch, whiskey and vodka tastings.
- Coliseum Fireworks Extravaganza:
3939 South Figueroa Street
Entertainment and kids games start at noon, with an hour-long fireworks show to follow at dusk. Recommended vantage points are Christmas Tree Lane (just east of the Coliseum) and the south lawn of the Natural History Museum.
- Dodger Stadium:
1000 Elysian Park Ave
Watch the Dodgers take on the New York Mets at 6:10pm and stay for the fireworks. If you miss ‘em on Monday, you can catch fireworks all summer long at Friday games.
- Palisades Rocks the Fourth Concert and Fireworks:
Palisades Charter High School, 15777 Bowdoin Street
The celebration starts with pre-fireworks entertainment that includes all types of musical stylings, including reggae, classic rock, classical, jazz, and traditional. Entertainment begins at 6:30pm, with fireworks to follow at 9pm.
Though the City of Malibu doesn’t sponsor any fireworks, they are posting the locations and times of the displays they issue permits for:
- 9:00 pm: Launch from barge offshore of Malibu Colony
- 9:00 pm: Launch from barge offshore of 21500 block of PCH
- 9:00 pm: Launch from barge offshore of 22300 block of PCH
- 9:00 pm: Launch from barge offshore of 27900 block of PCH
- Red, White, & Blues on The Queen Mary:
1126 Queen’s Highway, Long Beach
Board the historic luxury ocean liner for a day of festivities, including balloon artists and face painters, music, and a 9pm fireworks show. If you’re feeling fancy–or just tired after dancing the night away on the DJ deck–you can even stay night in an original stateroom!
- Redondo Beach Fireworks:
Seaside Lagoon, 200 Portofino Way, Redondo Beach
The seaside celebrations starts at 2pm with kids activities, a helicopter rescue demonstration, rock & roll dance party and more. Fireworks are set for 9pm, and can be seen from the shore or aboard the sunset cruise (departs at 8:30pm, returns 10pm).
