Check out the LA Times Los Feliz neighborhood profile.
With its coolness immortalized in the cult classic film Swingers, Los Feliz is Los Angeles’ original eastside hipster neighborhood, and its epicenter is Hillhurst Avenue with its plethora of chic boutiques and cool restaurants. But Los Feliz is so much more than just 20-somethings in skinny jeans and those pretending to be 20-somethings in skinny jeans. Los Feliz was the neighborhood of choice for many of early Hollywood’s biggest stars. Thus it’s home to some of the most beautiful architecture in Los Angeles including two Frank Lloyd Wright Homes (Ennis House and the Hollyhock House) as well as Richard Neutra’s Lovell House. Another special feature of Los Felizis that it sits just adjacent to Griffith Park, which offers not only tremendous green space, but easy access to (kid-friendly) destinations like the Los Angeles Zoo, Travel Town and The Los Angeles Equestrian Center. Single-family homes in Los Feliz run from the low 600,000’s for a simple hillside home up to the 5 million dollar mark for a mini-estate with views.
