The Beverly Hills Art Show – Spring Edition

You may remember us blogging about the Beverly Hills art show in October…well now, it is back for the Spring Edition this weekend! Come out this Saturday and Sunday to see four blocks of fine arts and craft. Works from over 250 exhibitors such as paintings, sculptures, watercolors, photographys, mixed medias, ceramics, jewelries, drawings and printmaking will all be on display. There will be art tours held both days starting at 2 pm and a wine and dine garden to visit! Check out the Beverly Hills Website for more details.

Creative Living in Atwater Village: ATX

Atwater Village – the hip family friendly enclave just east of the 405 near Griffith Park – is know for its charming bungalows and fun shops and restaurants. Now you can add beautiful contemporary creative space to the list of Atwater’s enticing features.

Atwater Crossing aka ATX is a cool collection of studios, offices, shoot locations, retail spaces, a theater & restaurant on Casitas Avenue. The brilliant shutterbugs from Shark Pig who shot the Heirloom LA farm dinner at McGrath Family Farm have set up shop at ATX. (That was so yummy – we are still talking about the cheese and mushroom stuff pumpkin blossoms!)

Paul Williams in Beverly Hills

We’ve blogged about Paul R. Williams before – what can say, we are fans. In addition to being a residential architect, in 1938 he was commissioned by Adam Gimbel to design the Art Deco interiors of Saks Fifth Avenue, to create a store that would make shoppers experience the warmth of a fine home. This design set the standard for every other Saks store. The enduring popularity of his work is a testament not only to his skill but also to his ability to transcend the social restrictions of his day and connect with his clients on a level that enabled him to produce dwellings that truly met their needs. Green City Fair is back for its 2nd annual festival of fun, food and activities. There will be free sustainable workshops throughout the day and free giveaways and discounts.
Tiffany from our team (you may remember her for her helpful friendly attitude or for her intrepid daily commute to work by bicycle) will be at the fair this Saturday. She’s manning the Bicycle Kitchen booth and has informed us that any cyclists who makes it up the hill to Mulholland can stop by for some chain greasing, tire inflation and other bike action!

Sometimes Bigger is Better in Beverly Hills

This week’s open houses brought us to two very large homes in Beverly Hills… this happens from time to time, but what was different about these is that they were both done well for how big they are. Respectively they are over 13,000 square feet and 30,000 square feet. They both felt as though they had personal touches which separated them from the tract home McMansions we often see. What also made the 30,000 square foot home feel especially special is that it sits on 20 acres overlooking Beverly Hills and Los Angeles, it’s a truly special piece of land.

The California Poppy Festival is here again! Come out to Lancaster this Saturday and/or Sunday and enjoy the annual festival that features colorful poppies, which are an Antelope Valley springtime attraction. The California Poppy Festival also began as part of the Earth Day celebration. Since the Golden California Poppy blooms each year around the time of Earth Day, it seemed appropriate for Lancaster to combine the two events into the California Poppy Festival. Great wide open in Los Angeles

While the blog’s been under construction we’ve seen a couple of cool houses with killer views and the feeling of wide open space… A rarity in LA. La Mesa gives the illusion of expansive wide open spaces since it abuts the Riviera golf course and has incredibly high ceilings and glass doors embodying the essence of southern California indoor-outdoor living.
