Calling All Artists

What do children’s book character Holly Hobbie & famed LA artist Theodore Lukits have in common? They’ve either lived in or could have lived in this dramatic Spanish 4 bedroom home. So which is which…

Walking in the front door, the house feels like a classic well appointed Mediterranean home, but after passing through the front public rooms the home opens up to a light filled 700 square artist’s studio.  This amazingly creative space was designed by and installed for Theodore Lukits (not Holly Hobbie). The current owner who is also an artist, has photos from the first half of the 20th century showing Lukits teaching art classes surrounded by eager students.
So what about Holly Hobbie?  She didn’t live in the house, but she could have.  In addition to the striking Mediterranean features and the inspiring artist’s atelier the property has a warm coziness.  The kitchen is particularly inviting, with cupboards, built-ins and a replica antique oven … just like the ones in the Holly Hobbie illustrations.

If you want to see this house, or any other house, please let us know.
